Celestial Reviews 80 - May 1, 1996

Note: A reader has called to my attention the fact that I have been
"wasting bandwidth" because of the way I have been posting my reviews. I
post these reviews by simply logging onto a.s.s. or a.s.s.d. through AOL
and then (1) physically pasting the review into a.s.s., and then (2)
physically pasting the review into a.s.s.d. The reader was apparently not
an AOL subscriber, but he suggested that I should just follow AOL's
instructions for cross-posting, which means that I would post the reviews
once, but they would show up in both newsgroups. I am not a techie, but I
am willing to follow this procedure. Could somebody who subscribes to AOL
either (1) tell me exactly where to find these instructions or (2) explain
to me how to cross-post my reviews? Thanks.

"Games People Play" by RC (74734.271@CompuServe.COM). I'm afraid I set
rather high standards for mind control stories. Writing a story in which
one person simply uses mysterious powers to make another person conform to
his or her sexual whims is no real challenge. The story needs a twist of
some kind. This story has a twist - the person who was doing the
controlling eventually becomes controlled by the original target, but it
wasn't enough to make me really excited. It's not a bad story; but it
needed a little more sexual tension to make it really interesting.

"Turn of the Cards" by RC (74734.271@CompuServe.COM). This is another
mind control story. Five college-age girls gather to play cards. One of
them hypnotizes the others and turns them into sex slaves. Actually, two
of them become the main sex slaves for the others. Both the recipients of
the slaves' attentions and the slaves themselves really enjoy the
activity. Again, I wasn't all that inspired with this story. I think my
problem is that Deirdre has set such high standards for mind control
stories that I can't get excited by more mundane examples.

"A Conversation with Eve" by Joe Parsons (jmp@cyber-mall.com). The author
combines a brief essay on "The Straight Scoop about Phone Sex" with a
transcription of a short telephone conversation with a lady named Eve.
Both were fairly well done. I think the factual portion gives a
legitimate treatment of the topic - even though the author is pretty much
advertising his own service, which he describes as one of the "more
legitimate" on-line phone-sex services.

I am a devout believer and fervent participate in sex with Ma Bell as a
partner, but neither my husband nor I have ever called a phone-sex number.
We do it with each other when we're separated, and out conversations are
a lot hotter than the one described in this story. Even if I didn't have
access to my husband, I'm not sure I would ever call these services -
$40.00 to reach orgasm sounds a bit high when I can easily get there for
the price of a download of a good a.s.s. story. And the TV shows and
movies have convinced me that there's a lot of deception going on: the
sexy chick who says she's fantasizing about giving you head may actually
be an ugly bimbo who's clipping her toenails while watching a fertilizer
infomercial. But as the author says, "I'd spent about $40.00 on the call,
but I'd have to say that for me, at least, it was a worthwhile experience.
I'd had a pleasant conversation with a bright woman whom I could imagine
to be tall and gorgeous. It was easy for me to imagine that she got off
on our conversation as much as I did; she actually had me believing that I
was bringing her to an orgasm with our shared fantasy."

Tastes vary. Whatever roasts your weenie!

"The Lecherous Professor" by David Esposito
(4lpone$10hi@usenetw1.news.prodigy.com). The prof was usually a proper
sort of guy, but he secretly longed to get into the pants of cute little
Amber. But the haughty cheerleader disdained him. As luck would have it,
however, Amber's mother took the summer session of the prof's class, and
she was more amenable to seduction - and to a lot more. The high point
comes when the prof gets Amber first to watch him buttfucking her mother
and then to join in the fun.  This is probably a very realistic account;
male college English professors are a lot less in control of their
emotions and less ethical than female high school English teachers.

Actually, if the author is going to play the role of an English teacher,
he should put a little more panache into his writing style.

"Atoms" by Mark Aster (MyFrThAl@aol.com). The narrator is lying in bed,
watching the beautiful Allen nymph sleeping next to him. This "story" is
basically a meditation on her body. There's not much real sex in this
story - just lots of sexy fore-foreplay.

"Julie and the Beast" by Mark Aster (MyFrThAl@aol.com). "And now for
something completely different...." The stories by this author usually
focus on the simple things of life - quiet orgies by the fireplace or in
the woods. This story is different. We are spirited away to a castle in
the middle of the seventeenth century, where Julie has been captured by a
Beast and has been seduced by one of the spirits dwelling there and has
fallen in love with the Beast himself, who is also a handsome prince.

In my ordinary life I am not fond of medieval magic stories. I never know
what to expect from them, and the authors seem to simply change the rules
irrationally to solve plot problems. And so when I say I enjoyed this
story, you should keep in mind that persons who like medieval magic
stories might like it even more.

The author writes in a deliberately confusing manner in order to develop
an ambiance of mysterious, dreamlike eroticism. I seldom knew exactly what
was happening - but neither did Julie. The sex isn't all that vivid
(because nothing in the story is vivid), but the overall impact of the
story is highly erotic.

"Three" by Mickey (KKLV22A@prodigy.com). This story is a description of
how a couple first became fascinated and turned on by the idea of inviting
a third party into their relationship and then actually tried it. A lot
of stories on this newsgroup purport to be "basically true," but this one
seems more realistic than most. The story is well written and the sex is
hot.

When I say this story was reasonably realistic, I should qualify that
statement. What I really mean is that I think this story is realistic
with the unpleasant parts filtered out. {If the menage a trois had been
thoroughly unpleasant or if the couple had contracted a sexually
transmitted disease, there simply would be no story.} I think in real
life it would be relatively uncommon that a loving man and wife would find
in the pages of a swingers' magazine an ad from a really great guy who was
compatible and capable of giving mutual pleasure with no strings attached
and that there would be no ill effects on the original marital
relationship. I think it is nice to THINK that things would work out this
way - and that's why I enjoy this kind of fiction. On the other hand,
Fatal Attraction relationships are also plausible and interesting but
relatively uncommon. Real life falls somewhere in between.

I myself find it very rewarding to work hard at maintaining a monogamous
relationship without adding elements that might hurt me, my husband, my
family, another person, or that person's family. This is not a sermon.
It is quite possible that the author of this story and other swingers
possess interpersonal skills that I lack. All I am saying is that I am
grateful for the fiction on this newsgroup that enables us to spice up our
love life with almost no real danger at all.

"Ball" by Deirdre. The woman's husband has lost a basketball game that he
felt sure he would win. The woman is astonished to discover the winners
buttfucking the losers. Drawn up in the heat of the moment, she herself
has anal sex with Jerry, one of her husband's friends who happens to be
nearby. Then the next morning Jerry's girlfriend shows up at the front
door....

Deirdre certainly is a good writer. Many of her stories (like this one)
start in the middle of the action, making the reader guess at what's going
on. Subtle clues gradually enable the reader to figure the story out; but
just when you think you have everything figured out, Deirdre throws in
another surprise. This was an excellent story.

"Cheerleader" by Deirdre. The high school kid longs for the cheerleader
but can't even get up the nerve to talk to her at the dance. He goes into
a dark room, and there she is with him. But the quarterback is also
there, and she instructs the guy to let the football player have anal sex
with him. And that's the predictable part of the story!

"Date" by Deirdre. Breaking up is hard to do. Someone should write a
song about that theme. In this case, the girl has broken up with her
boyfriend in an awkward manner - she left him the Dear John message on his
answering machine while he was out of town. But when the guy came back
from his trip, he came to see her without listening to her message. Now
he's in her arms, being a really wonderful guy. Deja vu! I've seen this
on Dick Van Dyke - only it was a script that would offend the boss. Deja
vu! I saw this on Days of Our Life last week - only it was a letter that
was written but was supposed to be destroyed but that somebody wanted back
before somebody else coould read it and destroy all hope of happiness.
Deja vu! This is one of the most common story lines in history. What
will Deirdre do with it? Deja vu! I'm not going to tell you. You'll
have to read the story and find out for yourself.

"Denial" by Deirdre. Two high school boys are out back showing their
hardware to each other. A passerby - a girl whom they like - sees them.
The embarrassed boys run inside the house. No big deal; she won't deal
anybody. Knock, knock! It's the girl. No big deal, she says; but she'd
like to see how gay guys do it! But they're not gay guys, and they tell
her so. She doesn't believe them; after all, she saw them. If they'll
just show her how gay guys do it, she won't tell anybody; but if they
stick with this crap about not being gay, she'll tell the whole world. If
this was ever on Dick Van Dyke, I missed the episode. Somebody should
write a song about this.

I learned a long time ago how to deal with blackmail. Simply call the
blackmailer's bluff. Either that or kill the blackmailer and chop the
body up into small pieces.

Anyway, the guys do it for the girl; and then the story starts taking
surprising twists.

"Lab Partners" by J Palmer (JT25@gnn.com). I have to learn to remember
to verify that I have an entire story in hand before I start to read it.
This one had no indication that it was a Part 1 - until I got to the end
and discovered that it wasn't finished.

This is a story about a woman who is horny almost all the time - but
especially when she's having her period. The main event in the present
story occurs when Laurie goes off to the bathroom to change her tampon,
which makes her horny, which makes her masturbate, which makes her make
noise, which attracts the attention of a coworker (lab partner), which
leads to an invitation to the coworker's house, which leads to mutual
masturbation, which leads to a lesbian experience, which leads eventually
to a menage a trois with Laurie's husband - but the story ended before we
got there.

I think this story is better than it looks. The author writes with real
passion, but the story has obviously been rushed into print without
proofreading. Aside from numerous irritating misspellings, the main
problem is verb tense. The author tries to present action that occurs at
several different times - the present, the distant past, the past a little
closer to the present, etc. Time management in a complex story with
numerous flashbacks is a difficult task. In this case, I'm sure the
author knew what was happening and when it happened; but it was very
difficult for me as a reader to determine the sequence of events. I know
it's a pain, but if you want to tell a complicated story, you simply have
to be patient and explain things carefully.
