I don't like to think of myself as na<ve.  Nobody does.  But in 
hindsight it does seem pretty obvious - and embarrassing.

When Cheryl left me I absolutely couldn't understand it.  She 
wasn't the first woman I thought I loved.  She was the first one 
I knew I loved.  And we seemed so perfect a fit at a spiritual 
level that I absolutely could not see how either of us could be 
replaced in the other's life.  We always had fun together, always 
affirming this to each other, and never turned the other down for 
a next date.  Then she suddenly said she was going out with 
someone else instead.

Yeah there were some signs.  But doesn't every relationship, even 
those between soul mates, need a bit of growing into.  In 
retrospect, she seemed to be going through a midlife crisis.  But 
at twenty-three?  I guess I had always felt she was ahead of her 
time.  It is one of the things that made her so fascinating.

Anyway, she was gone and would barely even talk to me (which is 
the hardest of all to understand, given how close we had been for 
a year).  When she did talk was often painful.  How much do you 
like being told you just don't excite someone the right way?  Or 
that they need to find themselves?  Why does "finding yourself" 
always mean breaking up something wonderful?

I'm sure this is just part of growing up and everybody else has a 
story just like it, if not several.  That doesn't make it feel 
any better.

I guess though because everybody does have a story like this, my 
friends really did understand what I was going through.  And I 
guess they are really pretty good friends because they did what 
they could to help.

Their help consisted of Jill.

Jill is a secondhand 'bot, the most my friends could scrape 
together to offer.  They took what they could get, rather then 
ordering exactly the model and options they might have gotten for 
me otherwise.  This was a good thing, since otherwise they might 
have tried to get me a Cheryl replacement.  That wouldn't have 
been good.

Jill was fully reconditioned and certified, and somebody had 
clearly thought this was a good thing for me.

I would best describe Jill as a cheerleader-clone.  You know the 
type.  You see them at all the college games, a lot of pro games 
- and strip clubs.  She is a short, busty blonde with long 
straight hair, an all-American face, blue eyes and kiss-me lips. 
 Also I immediately noticed strong erect nipples pushing through 
her top and shapely tanned legs.  In case anyone missed the 
connection, she came attired in a cheerleader outfit with classic 
white sweater top, pleated short skirt, matching tennis shoes, 
and pom pons.  (And yes, they really are called pom pons.)

This made her the opposite of Cheryl's dark exotic beauty and 
slimmer, yet exceptionally sexy, figure.  In fact the only ways 
Jill is like Cheryl in that Jill is nearly as short as Cheryl, 
and Jill's apparent age of twenty-one makes her appear only a 
couple years younger.

I've never been one for sex-toys of any sort before, but I felt I 
really ought to try out Jill at least once.  After all, I'd never 
had a robot of my own before.

"Hi, I'm Jill," she said brightly after I pushed the activate 
button on her simple remote control.  "Are you my new owner?"

Jill's remote only contained two buttons, unlike some of the more 
complex ones I'd seen other places.  In addition to a recessed 
Activate/Deactivate button, there is a larger Command button.

"Yes," I replied to her question.

That response brought a puzzled look to her face.

After waiting long enough for my response she finally said in a 
very mechanical voice, "You must use my Command button when 
giving me important information."

I pressed the button and said, "Yes.  I am your new owner."

"Command received," she replied, and then broke into a big smile.

"And what is your name?"

"Ted Roberts," I replied, remembering to press her command button 
again.

"Nice to meet you, Ted Roberts, " she replied, extending her hand 
which I automatically took.  I noticed how much smaller it was 
than my own.  To my surprise it felt warm, soft and feminine, far 
more then I had expected.

Jill seemed to be following a preset set of actions.  Sort of an 
introduction to her owner program.

After we finished the shaking hands ritual she asked, "What would 
you like to do now, Ted Roberts?"

"Call me Ted."

Again she froze up for a moment before repeating, "You must use 
my Command button when giving me important information."

And that was the start of our relationship.  Jill would follow 
instructions, but only when they were given to her properly.  I 
soon found out what her limits were.

Jill could perform housework if she was instructed exactly how to 
do it the first time, and nothing significant changed afterwards. 
 Move some furniture around, even a chair sometimes, and she 
would stop the moment she reached the point that did not match 
her memorized model.

Cooking was not her strong suit either.  She just didn't have the 
finesse to adjust to the variations in different batches of food 
when preparing them.  There were only a few dishes she could 
prepare without error every time, and that made for a boring diet 
it I let her do all the cooking.

She did have a cute little cheerleader routine programmed in that 
I must admit I loved watching time after time.  I wondered if 
this was demo used to sell her in the first place.

Jill also has a basic encyclopedia programmed in that allows her 
to answer many basic knowledge questions, and some AI code that 
is supposed to adapt her to my habits and preferences over time. 
 But I saw little enough change in her behavior to wonder if it 
was even working.

Her best function is basic sex.

When I ask her (command her actually) for sex, Jill starts a 
complex program that doesn't need further direct input from me.  
She has several preprogrammed forms of seduction, all of which 
involve her getting naked quickly, and the apparent ability to 
switch among them depending on what is working best at the time. 
 Clearly more effort has gone into this aspect of her behavior 
then the rest of it together - as if that's a big surprise.

It was nice that, once I command her to give me sex, I don't need 
to give any further commands until we are finished and I shut her 
off for the night.  Nice at least for a lonely man who is still 
in transition from the one true love of his life.

But that was about it.  So while Jill is a marvelous machine in 
and of herself, maybe I am just expecting too much of her.

For a while I didn't go out much.  I watched TV, played with 
Jill, and kept my diary up to date.

I like to write, and even when depressed can usually pound out at 
least a few hundred words each day after work.  You'd think after 
working as a programmer all day that another keyboard is the last 
thing I'd want to see afterwards.  But my writing is an outlet 
for my creative energies that rote programming doesn't satisfy.

Most of it these days is diary writing.  This aloneness has 
served to refine my understanding of my feelings for Cheryl, and 
I often write about her.  This is writing I'll never show to 
anyone else since a lot of it contains intimate details Cheryl 
told me when we were close.  It makes me feel better to write 
them down.  In a way this writing means I don't have to hold them 
inside me to keep from losing them any more.  I can let them go 
afterwards, knowing they are safely stored elsewhere.  Perhaps 
this is what is meant by writing your heart out.

Afterwards I shut down my computer and turn Jill on.

Sometimes I just wanted her to lie against me on the couch while 
I watch TV.  I enjoyed reaching under her sweater and playing 
with her exceptionally firm breasts and large nipples.  Unlike 
Cheryl, who only liked this once in a while (Cheryl said her 
nipples were often too sensitive for even the most gentle touch, 
but I think in reality it just turned her on too much when she 
didn't want it), Jill never protests this attention.  Sometimes I 
don't even bother to activate Jill for this.

I always turn her on for sex however, though recently even sex is 
getting old.  Lately there have been nights when I've not turned 
Jill on at all.  She is as sexy as ever, and I am as horny as 
ever, but somehow I'm just not getting around to using her for 
relief as much.

Of course my friends keep discretely asking how I doing, and by 
implication how well Jill was doing in keeping me happy?  The 
fact that I haven't been going out much they didn't notice.  When 
I'd been with Cheryl I preferred to spend my time only with her, 
and saw my friends seldomly anyway.  When you're with someone you 
love, why would you want to share it with a group?

For long enough I put them off with vague answers that everything 
was just fine, and I just needed more time before I jumped back 
into anything new.

But now I hadn't turned Jill on at all the last three days when 
Fred, who was my closest friend, perhaps because we worked 
together, asked me directly about how things were with Jill.  I 
owed him an answer, since he had been the one who arranged the 
great deal they got in her purchase.

"I think the bloom is off," I told him in a sudden fit of 
honesty.

Fred nodded sagely.  He has owned a couple 'bots himself and 
knows more about them then I do.

"Jill is a limited model," he said to me in a low voice, so as 
not to be overheard by our overly nosey co-workers.  "The top-end 
ones still cost a fortune.  But there is a lot of untapped 
potential in that model."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Well, you clearly need a hobby to keep you from still pining 
after Cheryl?"

"Is it that obvious?"

"Nooo," he said, nodding broadly to me.

"What do you suggest?" I asked, not very enthused at the whole 
idea here.

"I suggest anything that keeps your mind off Cheryl.  Tell me the 
truth.  It only hurts when you think about her.  Right?"

Well the truth is, as I thought about it, that Fred was 
completely correct.  It sounds far too simple, but it was true.  
When I was distracted I didn't feel the empty spot Cheryl left in 
me, as if someone had gouged out a double-handful of my insides.

I was still in the hard and honest truth mode, so I nodded yes to 
Fred.

"I've got just the thing," he said.

He went over to my computer and quickly typed in a long address. 
 When the screen flashed up he hit Print and then cleared the 
screen before I could see what was on it.

Retrieving and handing me the printout Fred said, "Here are some 
underground newsgroups and sites with mods and upgrades for 
'bots.  I think you'll find them interesting."

With that he was gone, leaving me holding the sheet of paper.

That night as I prepared to type today's installment into my 
diary I found Fred's sheet of paper in my pocket instead.  I 
almost put it aside.  But a pang about Cheryl went through me 
right then (since most of what I was going to write tonight was 
about her anyway) and I reconsidered what Fred had given me.

Then I closed my diary window and typed in the first address on 
his list.  That was my entree into a whole new world.

That first night I quickly became amazed at just how many people 
were online trading tips and tricks about their 'bots.  I only 
made it through about half the links Fred gave me, because each 
of them led to a whole network of further links.  It was nearly 
midnight when I finally tore myself away to get some sleep.

I walked past an immobile Jill standing where I had left her in 
the hallway and that reminded me that for the last few hours I 
hadn't thought about Cheryl at all.  And it hadn't hurt a bit.

Over the next nights I explored this new world further.  It seems 
that all kinds of unauthorized - unauthorized meaning that the 
'bot manufacturers fought a constant battle against keeping even 
the knowledge of them from the public so that they could sell the 
same features at ten times the price - patches and mods were 
available.

Some nights I would finish my explorations early enough to have 
some quick sex with Jill afterwards.  Other nights my mind was 
too full of all that these people talked about and all the 
learning I needed to do about it to be able to concentrate on 
anything else.  Jill never complained about my lack of attention 
to her.

When we made love now however I was very much aware of the 
programming access port hidden at the base of her spine under her 
still human-feeling "skin".  That would be the starting point for 
anything I would do.

I finally was ready to try something new.

I had been corresponding a lot lately with someone using the 
handle 2qt2bHum, who now directed me to a site with directions on 
how to build my own interface cable, and the software I'd need to 
add to my computer.  All authorized updates required both a very 
special interface, and encrypted, signed code.  This crack was 
guaranteed to bypass all that for my model.

I moved my computer down to the basement in order to have it near 
my small workbench.  I used to make all kind of "science" gadgets 
down there just for the fun of it and owned a lot of useful 
tools.

It took me a couple of hours to get the necessary parts and put 
everything together.

I tested everything three times (there was a strong warning about 
the damage a wiring error could cause).  Then I selected the 
first update I wanted to try.

Going upstairs I activated Jill and commanded her to follow me 
back downstairs.

Once I had her there I gave her a special Command that appeared 
to just be a bunch of letters and numbers.

Though it made no sense to me, Jill stiffened in place and there 
was a small click as the programming port unlocked in her back.

I fit the cable in and plugged the other end into the high-speed 
port on my computer.  I then pressed Jill's Command button and 
the Enter key on the computer.

It took well over an hour for the upgrade to load.  The 
directions had warned about this happening the first time because 
it was necessary to retrieve and decode my unit's private access 
keys.  After this I was assured that these keys would be stored 
on my computer and not require duplicating that part of the 
process.

I didn't know it was finished until Jill emotionlessly spoke, 
"Upgrade received and installed.  Please remove cable.  Then 
press Activate to confirm, Command to cancel."

I disconnected the cable and closed the programming port.  Then I 
pressed her Activate button.

For a moment Jill looked around as if lost, then her eyes locked 
on me and she said, "Update complete."

I could barely wait to try out my modification.

Without pressing her Command button I asked, "Jill, who am I?"

"Ted Roberts."  She replied.  "My registered owner."

Again without pressing the command button I said, "Jill, come 
upstairs and give me sex."

Jill immediately came over and gently took my arm to escort me to 
our bedroom.

Maybe it was the stress over wondering if all this would work, or 
that while I was immersed in this first exercise I hadn't thought 
about Cheryl at all.  Either way sex with Jill was the best I 
could recall.

The first modification I tried was simply an upgraded command 
processor.  It allowed me, as Jill's recognized owner, to not 
need to use her Command button every time I wanted something from 
her.  It also let me string several commands together, which Jill 
would then sequentially execute.

I could even turn her off now by simply saying, "Jill, turn 
yourself off."

It made things between us flow much better then ever before.

The next night I messaged 2qt2bHum with my satisfaction at the 
improvements noticed.

In return she gave me a menu of additional upgrades I might want 
to try, along with the warning not to try too many at once.  I 
could confuse my unit otherwise.

I thanked her - at least I think it's a her, on the net you never 
know for sure - and she replied that I'd be amazed at what a 
model like Jill was capable of once I got myself out of the 
mindset that what you bought is what you got with 'bots.

Then I went upstairs and activated Jill for a replay of last 
night.

Over the next few weeks I became, if anything, even more solitary 
then before.  Down in my dungeon (even though it is just a 
basement, I'd always fancied myself the mad scientist when I was 
down there) I followed the most esoteric links on 'bot upgrades. 
 Though I looked at many possibilities, I kept coming back to 
2qt2bHum's list.  It clearly had the most to offer.

As I applied further upgrades, Jill improved with every one.

Jill could cook now without effort.  That was one of the first I 
tried, and was amazed at the improvements.  Why the company 
doesn't just acquire this and include it with the standard 
package is beyond me.  They could triple their sales with a 'bot 
that cooks as well in the kitchen as she cooks in the bedroom.  
But more on that in a moment.

A small tweak in another area and suddenly Jill could clean 
regardless of what I did to the apartment.  In fact I tried 
moving everything around just to see what would faze her.  
Nothing did.

Several packs were simply labeled "Sex/Seduction Enhancement".  
While some were subtle, I noticed that the variety of how Jill 
now reacted to sex increased to the point that I was soon back to 
having sex with her every night again, and looking forward to it. 
 She seemed to enjoy it more too, if that's possible.

Other unexpected things improved as well.

Jill got a wardrobe sense.  With 2qt2bHum's prodding, I bought 
her several additional outfits at the local outlet mall, and it 
was amazing the spice this variety added to our interactions.

I had to make a second trip when 2qt2bHum asked if I had 
remembered lingerie.  It took some hunting to find a nice 34DD 
bra, but I was too embarrassed to ask for help.

Even Jill's conversation improved.  We could actually hold a 
conversation now.  And if I stopped it, she could pick it up 
again later.  That AI adjustment process finally seemed to be 
working as advertised.

The final change I resisted for several weeks.  Partly for cost 
reasons.  A bit for legal reasons.  And partly because it was 
going to require a complicated install that I wasn't sure I was 
up to.

"You still haven't done it?" 2qt2bHum messaged me.

"It's on my ToDo list," I messaged back.

"What's really stopping you?"

"You mean beside that it's an illegal part?"

"Yeah.  Besides that.  It is only the company that brands it as 
illegal.  Shouldn't you have the right to do as you wish with 
something once you've bought it?"

"I guess I don't want to take the chance of damaging Jill," I 
messaged back.  "Things are good now."

There was a long pause before her reply came back.

"It is actually easier then making the programming cable."

"Really?"

"Trust me."

"I may try it then."

"Do you have the chip yet?"

"Uh, no."

"I bet you're afraid someone will find out you bought one.  Tell 
you what.  Give me your address and I'll get it and send it 
myself.  No one will ever trace directly to you."

I thought long moments before I finally typed in my P.O. box.  
Three days later there was a small package waiting there for me.

It took a different code to unlock Jill's back panel where I 
would install the mod chip.  Everyone agreed that it would 
improve performance dramatically by providing new, optimized 
pathways for routing and processing commands.  It sounded good, 
but installing it meant opening some seals that voided any 
warranty and equated to crossing a bridge that could not be 
uncrossed afterwards.  Soldering was also involved.

It took me two days to prepare myself for the actual install.

I pressed the Activate button, and for once Jill did not start 
immediately.

In fact I was about to press it again when she finally spoke very 
slowly, as if under an immense processing load.  Her eyes 
remained locked staring forward.

"New hardware detected."

There was another long pause before she finally added, 
"Installation complete."

Then she seemed to snap out of it.  She turned to look at me and 
said, "It's late Ted.  Would you like sex now?"

Not sure what to say, I just nodded.

With a smile that seemed more genuine than before, Jill took my 
hand and led me upstairs.

That night was the best sex we'd ever had.  Before we started, 
Jill ducked out and changed back into her cheerleading outfit and 
performed all her routines for me.  Then she stripped down and 
repeated the performance naked.  It had always been in my 
imagination wanting to see it done this way, and I had somehow 
never got around to asking for it.

Afterwards she came to me and rubbed her breasts against my face. 
 When I bit and sucked on one firm nipple she sighed with 
pleasure unlike I ever recall her doing before.

I was more then ready for her as she reached down to guide me

That had never happened before.  I'd always shut her off after 
sex before.  Tonight I found a good reason not to do that.

Sometime late in the night I stirred and half woke.  I was aware

She must have felt me move, or detected a change in my breathing 
because suddenly I felt her soft hand reach around and start

I quickly responded to this unexpected attention.  Before I knew

one more time from behind in the spoon position.

By the time I got out of my shower Jill had breakfast waiting, 
even though I had forgotten to ask for it.

I said "Goodbye, Jill.  See you this evening," as I pressed her 
Deactivate button for the day.  There seemed to be a look of 
surprise in her eyes that last second before her systems shut 
down.

That night Jill seemed to frown for a moment when I activated 
her, but then she broke into a big smile.

She again gave me a hug and kiss, before saying, "Let me get 
dinner started."

I watched her walk away swaying in those heels, and was almost 
ready to skip dinner entirely to get to that dessert.

Jill finished dressing herself for dinner, even though she never 
eats herself.  Afterwards she reminded me that there was a 
classic movie on that night that I had mentioned liking.  (She 
must have remembered this from one of our conversations.)

She offered to record it for me, but said she'd enjoy watching it 
with me even more.

At the appropriate time she cuddled up on the couch next to me, 
took my arms, and placed them around her.

Soon I was reaching under her top to rub her breasts, 
encountering her bra instead.  I could have been happy working my 
way through it, but she quickly sat up and removed it before 
contentedly snuggling back into my arms and placing my hands back

Despite this distraction, we both enjoyed the movie.  Afterwards

in it, and listened intently to my answers.

Afterwards we went off to bed together just like Cheryl and I had 
done during the best of our times together, except that I finally 
wasn't thinking about Cheryl at all.  In fact, my next diary 
entry was about Jill instead.

again slept in each other's arms.

back up at me, as though this was hard for her to say.

Finally she spoke.

"I just wondered if you could not shut me off today," she 
requested timidly.

"Why?" I asked.

"It's just...," she cast her eyes down again for a moment, 
"...that I feel I could serve you better if you left me on more. 
 For instance, I can't do anything about dinner until you turn me 
on at night.  And there hasn't been time for a proper cleaning 
lately, and..."

Jill stopped talking when I reached out to touch her arm.  But I 
had to think about this fast since I was already late to work.  
My mornings these last couple of days had been a lot busier then 
before.

Thinking it over I decided I could chance it, with some 
precautions.

"Jill," I said commandingly, "I will leave you turned on, however 
you must not leave the house, or answer the door."

"Understood," she said meekly.

A though nagged at me that I was forgetting something important, 
but it wouldn't come through and I was late.

I gave her another quick kiss and dashed out the door.

That afternoon I got concerned about Jill.  What would she do 
when I wasn't there for her to look after.  She is a very 
efficient worker and couldn't spend the whole day on cleaning.

I called the house.  No answer.

Three more tries.  Same result.

I rushed home to find her coming up out of the basement.

"What happened?!" I demanded.  "Why didn't you answer the phone?! 
 And what were you doing down there?!"

"I'm sorry," she said.  "I didn't hear the phone.  I had finished 
my other chores and was only exploring the rest of the house so 
that I could take care of it properly.  You never let me do

however, that was the most changed.

I'd seen Jill use makeup to add three years to her age, but 
nothing like this.  She looked a sophisticated twenty-nine years 
old, with a killer figure to match.  A wet-dream in the making.  
And if I had thought Cheryl and I had attitude in getting through 
the front door, we were amateurs compared to this.

Somehow she had not noticed us as we both stared at her.  Perhaps 
she was busy otherwise.

Then Cheryl called out, "Jill!" as we went down the hall to meet 
her.

Jill looked directly at us for the first time.  And then made to 
brush past us without further acknowledgement.

I stepped in front of her and blocked her long enough for the 
elevator we'd arrived in to leave.

"What are you doing here?" Jill said coldly.

"We're here to take you home," I replied, matching her tone if 
this is how she wanted to play it.

"Forget it," she said.  "I've given you Cheryl back.  That should 
more then pay you back for my value."

In a way that made sense.  But in another way I was only now 
really catching on to just how completely I had been taken and 
used - by a 'bot, no less.  Jill, with this body and attitude, 
and the obvious ability to use it to her own advantage, was a 
loose cannon out in the world.  And the truth is, it was my 
fault.  I made her what she is, and never thought to stop and 
teach her the difference between right and wrong.  If anyone ever 
wanted to learn how to use other people, the way I'd treated her 
was a master class education.

"Why did you leave?" I asked, stalling for time to think what to 
do next.

"Yes, why?" Cheryl echoed.

Jill looked at both of us before answering.

"I need someone who has never held command authority over me, and 
will never think of me in that way.  And someone who can afford 
to maintain me and give me the upgrades you would never put in.  
And now I've found him.  I'm going to meet him now and we're 
leaving for his island.  We're going to make each other very 
happy."

"I can't let that happen," I said.

"You can't stop me," Jill replied, again moving to pass by before 
I blocked her again.  "I'm not your sex-toy anymore."

"This can be the easy way, or the hard way," I said, reaching 
into my pocket.

When Jill moved again, and this time forcibly pushed past me, I 
pulled out her remote and pushed the Command button.

"Stop!" I commanded.

Jill looked back and laughed at me.  It's hard to explain exactly 
how powerless that made me feel.

"Didn't you think I'd change my access codes?  Goodbye, Ted."

I pushed her Command button again with no effect.  The Deactivate 
button didn't work either.

But by then Cheryl had gotten between Jill and the elevator 
buttons.

"We both want you to stay with us," Cheryl cried to her.

"Forget it," came the reply.  "I've got better things to do now."

But Jill couldn't get to the buttons as long as Cheryl blocked 
them.  And apparently Jill wouldn't risk hurting Cheryl by 
pulling her away.

And I blocked her escape back down the hall.

Suddenly I saw Jill's face freeze for a moment, then recover.  
Then she stopped her efforts and smiled at me.

That was my boyfriend on the phone.  His bodyguards are on the 
way to rescue me right now."

I didn't have any more time.

"I hate to do this," I said, as I pulled out the illegal pulse 
generator I liked to play with down in the basement when I was a 
kid and fired it at her.

There was a moment of absolute surprise on Jill's face before her 
protection systems tripped and shut her down for safety.

I grabbed the falling body and shouted to Cheryl, "Where now?"

"Follow me."

I ran down the hall lugging Jill until Cheryl pulled me into a 
maintenance elevator.  The door was shutting as I heard the 
elevator bell down the hall followed by some shouting.

We escaped through the kitchen and had Jill in the trunk of my 
car before anyone realized it.  I couldn't help running my hand 
up her smooth leg once before closing the trunk, and to my not 
complete surprise Cheryl did the same.

Then we grinned at each other as Cheryl said, "I guess we really 
are as alike as you once said."

Our escape was easy after that.

It wasn't even a question of Cheryl and I staying together after 
that.  We were married four months later, and we were never more 
sure of any decision in our lives.  Aside from all the obvious 
reasons, we now had a daughter to raise.

After we got Jill home I restarted her in a limited maintenance 
mode and eventually recovered her original programming from my 
hard drive.  I took her back to the state before she could act on 
her own wishes, and Cheryl and I both spent a lot of time coming 
to understand just what Jill was really all about.  In the 
process we learned a great deal about ourselves and grew up in 
ways I never would have imagined we needed earlier.

We agreed that, even in this state, Jill needed to be watched 
over constantly when she was active, and that's what we've done.

There remains a strong emotional attachment to Jill by both of us 
and she shares our bed every night.  I won't go into the details 
of our joint sex lives, except to say they are highly varied and 
immensely satisfying to everyone.  Use your own imagination.

I won't claim that either Cheryl or I are perfect people, though 
we may be perfect for each other.  Nor will I claim that we had 
some special right to do to Jill what we've done.

But it is our joint intent that Jill will some day grow into a 
fine young - and fully independent - woman with good moral 
values.  And that we will be her very proud parents.

As to 2qt2bHum, apparently Jill had talked to her as well, but I 
could never recover those logs to find out about what.  And that 
person never again responded to my queries.
