That's because (1) I'm trying to finish off the Halloween stories for this year; (2) I'm trying to review as many stories as possible for the a.s.s.m. Grand Opening, (3) I had some extra time, and (4) my guest reviewers helped out. I want to thank Techguy for his help in getting the links together. Some of them are missing – mostly because some stories had not been formally posted when I reviewed them. Most of these will be available right away in the newly opened a.s.s.m. I hope the new a.s.s.m. works out well. It will be convenient to have an area that contains only stories. A.s.s. and even a.s.s.d. have become so filled with spam and other nonsense that it's very difficult to find good stories there. If you want me to review your stories, I suggest that you post them in a.s.s.m. with the <*> signal – {an asterisk in brackets} to catch my attention and that you also send me a copy asking for a review. I feel I have a right to review any story that's posted, but I have no interest in picking on people who don't want to be picked on. I plan to keep crossposting my reviews to a.s.s., because not everyone will have access to a.s.s.m. I suggest that others follow this practice when posting their stories. My goal is simply to supply some useful and interesting information to people looking for stories – and to have some fun while doing so. Second note: Age and Womanhood 1. Between the ages of 13 and 18, she is like Africa, virgin and unexplored. 2. Between the ages of 19 and 35, she is like Asia, hot and exotic. 3. Between the ages of 36 and 45, she is like America, fully explored, breathtakingly beautiful, and free with her resources. 4. Between the ages of 46 and 56, she is like Europe, exhausted but still has points of interest. 5. After 56 she is like Australia, everybody knows it's down there, but who gives a damn? Age and Manhood 1. Between 16 and 26: Tri-weekly 2. Between 27 and 46: Try weekly 3. Over 47: Try weakly Third note: A Texan buys a round of drinks for all in the bar because, he announces, his wife has just produced "a typical Texas baby boy weighing 20 pounds." Congratulations shower him from all around, and many exclamations of "Wow!" are heard. A woman faints because of sympathy pains. Two weeks later, he returns to the bar. The bartender says, "Say, you're the father of the typical Texas baby that weighed 20 pounds at birth. How much does he weigh now?" The proud father answers, "Ten pounds." The bartender is puzzled, concerned. "Why? What happened? He already weighed 20 pounds at birth." The Texas father takes a slow swig from his long-neck Lone Star, wipes his lips on his shirtsleeve, leans into the bartender and proudly says, "Had him circumcised." ===================== Celestial Reviews Index: ===================== "Reflections" by Harry Tasker (Barroom pickup) 10, 9, 9 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=523028730 "Night Fire" by Jedi Knight (mystery woman) 9.5, 9.5, 9.5 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=330613612 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=330613619 "Convention Town Girl" by Ms. Screwloose (transition to slut) 9.5, 7, 6 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=473298477 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=473298500 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=535811796 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=524576808 "To Tame a Dragon" by Virago Blue (orgy) 10, 9, 9 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=536467423 "Out of Sync with the Sixties" by Bernard Sagon (1960s college sex) 9.5, 9, 9 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=526337483 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=526342568 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=526342627 "Sunday Tease" by Monocle (romantic rough sex) 10, 10, 10 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=510879533 "The Beach Was Never Like This! We never do find out what she's doing there. Actually, the previous sentence is ambiguous. It's pretty clear what she's doing there. We're just not sure how she got there. This is a very short but very nice story. Ratings for "Night Fire" Athena (technical quality): 9.5 Venus (plot & character): 9.5 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 9.5 "Convention Town Girl" by Ms. Screwloose (screwloose2@my-deja.com) http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=473298477 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=473298500 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=535811796 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=524576808 Our narrator is a sexy woman whose husband wants her to be nice to his clients. They go to nice restaurants at casinos, and the various clients and their friends have their way with the wife in all kinds of odd places . They even have a sort of circle jerk that incorporates a wine bottle as a phallic symbol. The husband, of course, enjoys the humiliation and excitement. I still need a little convincing that many normal men and women would enjoy this idea in real life. The best presentation I have seen on the topic of spouse sharing was the movie "Indecent Proposal," and there the idea didn't sound so good after all. One element that made the story drag a little was the constant repetition of the wife's astonished comments like, "Are you sure you really want me to do that?" In addition, Chapter 3 switches viewpoints between the husband and the wife, but I didn't find the change of perspective to be very productive. I found it to be enticing, but confusing – probably because I haven't read any other stories in the Fantasy Train series. I guess the main purpose of this review is to point out that this Fantasy Train series exists and to say that it seems to have potential. He goes to a party with one of the other workers, and they have wild and passionate sex. It's his first time, and she's really good at it and takes pride in her work, and so a good time is had by all. I enjoyed the allusions to bygone days that set the ambience for some very hot sex. Those days were before my time, of course; but they appear to have been interesting. Ratings for "Out of Sync with the Sixties" Athena (technical quality): 9.5 Venus (plot & character): 9 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 9 "Sunday Tease" by Monocle (monocle_o@NOTTHIS.hotmail.com). http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=510879533 The author sent me this a long time ago. I put it at the top of my inbox, but then kept putting more and more things on top of it. I finally dug it back up, and I'm glad I did. The man and his wife have just recently procreated. Whilst the little bundle of joy is sleeping, they go about their daily duties – cleaning up the house and such matters. However, she is dressed to tease him. In the end the little cockteaser gets what she's asking for. I have never had sex with a post partum woman whose breasts are engorged with milk, but I have been present when my husband has done so. This sort of thing can be lots of fun, and the author conveys the festivities effectively. They even got a huge discount from the cute guys who sold them the swimwear. But the joke's on them. Literally. Ya see, after the suits have been in the water for 15 minutes, they disintegrate, leaving the wearers stark naked. The guys know this, and so they follow the girls to the beach and force them to come back to the guys' apartment, where the girls hope to acquire some clothing and other acoutrements, which can be spelled two ways, neither of which was my first choice. But when the girls get to the apartment, the joke is on them again. Literally, once more. Ya see, the guys have put mind control gas in the ventilation system, which has actually become a titillation system. So the guys fuck the girls every which way they can; but no harm, no foul. The girls can't even remember what happened, and they are likely to fall for the same scam again, which is fine, because they liked it a lot. Ratings for "The Beach Was Never Like This! Billy has stumbled and blundered himself into a cast {on his leg, not in a play} that severely restricts his activities. Meanwhile, the erstwhile and eponymous Ms. Bobbie Johnson has graduated from med school and wants to have recreational sex with Billy before she leaves his life forever. What's a girl to do? She does just fine. Either use your imagination or read the story for details. Ratings for "Ms.--No, Dr. Bobbie Johnson" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 10 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 10 "Let Us Now Praise Ordinary Women" by Marc Proust (proust@usit.net). Hope Morris is married to an egotistical asshole who is after her money. She is an ordinary (non-glamorous) person, and her husband has eyes for the more spectacular sort of person. There was a song back in my parents' day that had a line in it that said, "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life/ Never make a pretty woman your wife." The narrator stumbles upon a similar insight. But he soon discovers that the ordinary woman is most extraordinary when she is treated properly. I think this story was originally in the bible, but it was excluded when the Puritans took over. The present rendition - which includes a combination of humor, poignant insight, and good sex - is quite good. He finds out that one of his daughters is messing around and decides to turn her into HIS total SLUT. Imagine that. I saw this title in the listings and wondered if the story could be as bad as it sounded. It was. I only read the disclaimer plus the first hundred words or so. Authors get only one chance to make a good first impression. Ratings for "Making My Daughter Mine" Athena (technical quality): 4 Venus (plot & character): 2 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 1 "His Taste" by Artie (artie@netgate.net). http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=520800588 This is Artie doing an O. Henry story – a nice tale with a surprise ending. As with "The Gift of the Magi," there's even a moral to this story. Tom and Laura are practitioners of mutual hypnosis. Back when I was in college, we used to think that only extreme experts could hypnotize people and that when someone became hypnotized, he would walk around like a zombie and do whatever he was programmed to do. I'm pretty sure they teach it differently nowadays. College students now seem to learn that almost anyone can hypnotize anyone else and that the main purpose of hypnosis is to control the behavior of potential sex partners. Neither insight is accurate, but the latter makes for a more willing suspension of disbelief. But Tom is also an author, and he puts the final touches on his current MC story before hitting the sack with Laura. You will enjoy this story. You will enjoy this story. You will enjoy this story. Ratings for "His Taste" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 10 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 10 "Final Dawn" by K. Vagabond (kvagabond@mailcity.com). http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=541724440 I am not a vampire, nor have I ever performed as one on TV or in a school play. So there are some things that I don't know about these creatures, whose very existence I sometimes doubt. This is an extremely well written story about a vampire who has been doing nasty vampire things for a long time but has decided to end his career. But then he decides to do something else – presumably with a female vampire. The story appears to be well written, and somebody who knows or cares more about vampires may find this story to be really fascinating. Ratings for "Final Dawn" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 8 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 8 "Grammar Lesson" by Allison George (allison_george@hotmail.com). Jenn spends some time discussing her essay with her classmate Jerry, and then he invites her to his garret to see the new font he has developed. One thing leads to another, and soon they are printing out a Shakespearean sonnet in the new font. This leads to raucous sex. If it is not obvious to you by now why this story is entitled "Grammar Lesson," I guess you had better to ahead and read it. Actually, the story is more about proofreading or typing than grammar. But that's OK. Really. The style of nesting the story within the conversation of two roommates is quite effective. This is an excellent story. Ratings for "Grammar Lesson" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 10 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 10 "Autumn Sunday" by Elena (silverlink@freeuk.com). http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=542842814 Katie is amazed that she can make love to James so passionately but still not be able to tell him that she loves him. The entire focus of this story is on their lovemaking and whether or how she will disclose this information to him. I'll be damned if I'm going to tell you the answer. This is a tight, nicely told story. Some would call it vanilla, but vanilla is good sometimes. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ratings for "Autumn Sunday" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 10 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 10 "Vengence" by Alden Bradley (zzztopper@aol.com). http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=538688927 For a story that starts with a misspelled title, this one is pretty good. LeighAnn's husband has wandered from the straight and narrow, and so she has the right to a revenge fuck to set matters straight. She picks out a hunk pretty much at random and invites her friend Stacy along for protection when she goes to fuck him. A good time is had by all, and they even get it on videotape. As you might have suspected, the husband enjoys watching the tape, and we can see a foursome in the future. This story uses really simple – almost simplistic – language to describe the events, and this style is very effective. Ratings for "Vengence" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 9 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 9 "The Right Wrong Spell" by Souvie (souvien22@yahoo.com). http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=542663140 Three young ladies who halfheartedly believe they are witches have gathered in San Francisco to conjure up a demon for Halloween. To their dismay, they actually succeed. Two of the ladies depart in fear, while the third stays to meet the demon in tight fitting jeans, who appears to possess some delectable characteristics. It turns out he's not a demon at all – just an itinerant magician, taking advantage of the opportunity. This is the first story that I have reviewed by this author, and I thought it was excellent. Ratings for "The Right Wrong Spell" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 9.5 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 9.5 "Janey's September" by Janey (janey98@hotmail.com). The story starts with Janey and two of her friends talking about, fuck fantasies, their inhibitions, and expanding their sexual horizons. Pretty soon we find them relaxing in an orchard in New Hampshire at the vacation home of one of the couples. Some peach juice gets into an interesting place, and pretty soon everyone is enjoying peachsicles. Since my spellcheck did not recognize that word, I guess I have to tell you that what they're doing is having an orgy. Right there in the orchard. Oh my! In this story Janey advances the thesis that women get more interested in sex for the sake of sex as they get older. She and her friends still like romance, but now that they're older, the idea of an orgy doesn't exactly turn them off. When an author writes lots of stories about orgies, she has an obligation to do at least minor variations on the theme. The three new motifs in the present stories are the involvement of peach juice, the focus on lots of skin, and the ambivalence shown by one of the partners. The peach juice theme works very nicely; 'nuff said. The skin motif is also nicely handled. I don't do orgies in real life myself; but one of the features that sounds most attractive about the ones I have fantasized is the availability of lots of naked skin – sometimes belonging to unidentified participants. However, the ambivalence theme didn't quite make it for me. On the other hand, I really did appreciate the effort – the notion that someone might hesitate and think over the consequences before plunging into an orgy really does make sense. This is not Janey's best story ever, but it's still a very, very good story. Especially if you find it interesting to imagine people licking peach juice off various body parts while spouses either look on or join in. Ratings for "Janey's September" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 9.5 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 9.5 "Bill's Not-So-Secret Urge" by Admiral Cartwright (admcartwright@my-Deja.com). I don't review a lot of stories that deal with male homosexuality. The reason is simple: I'm a heterosexual female; and if I am going to be motivated at least partly by what turns me on, male homosexuality themes just aren't likely to do the trick. So I usually just go about my life, ignoring mm stories – except that this time the author mailed it to me and asked me to review it for the Grand Opening of a.s.s.m. Oh well, que sera sera. The story focuses on a man exchanging sexual favors with another man in a booth where they are watching a porn video of guys having sex. While he's engaged in this activity, he reflects back over the major milestones in his sex-life with other men. I didn't find this to be a turn-on, but I did find it to be very interesting. A reasonable goal in reading this story would be to find out "how gay guys do it." I really don't know how well this story helped me achieve that goal. After all, I just reviewed a story about heterosexual couples coating themselves with peach juice and switching partners during an orgy. I doubt that anything very close to that has happens to the average heterosexual, and I suspect that most gay guys don't have sex in booths at video stores either. The guys in this story have cocks that range from 6.0 inches to 11.5 inches. This leads me to believe that the author errs on the side of the sensational – or at least the fascinating. Anyway, the story deals with several interesting ideas that certainly must influence male homosexual activity, including the likelihood of getting Aids more likely by swallowing. Even if the story is comprised of wild exaggerations, it had a tone of authenticity that kept me interested. If you enjoy stories about male homosexual activity, you may like this one even more than I did. Ratings for "Bill's Not-So-Secret Urge" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 10 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 10 "The Erotic Adventures of Robin Hood" by Ann Douglas (ann_douglas@hotmail.com). Most people assume that Robin Hood was a guy; but if you think about it, the name is androgynous. I have been suspicious ever since I first saw Errol Flynn prancing around in those green sissy tights. Some of those pirouettes were just a little too much! Anyway, in this story it's a young woman named Robyn Hood who torments the bad guys and makes Marian feel like a real woman. When I was a child, I used to tell my mother on each of my birthdays that "this has been my best birthday ever!" I guess that could have actually been true, but I suspect that I was influenced by my more recent interaction with the current birthday. The same may be true here. I think this may be Ann's best story ever. On the other hand, it's been a while since I read some of the older ones. What I do know is that Ann takes a famous legend and does a good job of infusing into it some really good sex. Ratings for "The Erotic Adventures of Robin Hood" Athena (technical quality): 9.5 Venus (plot & character): 10 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 10 "The Girl Who Came Out of the Blue" by Titmouse (NiteSweats@aol.com). The two people meet on the Internet. They do ordinary things like exchanging purity test scores and sexual fantasies, and then they decide to meet in real life. She's 22 and he's 2.5 times her age. Unless all those articles about American education are correct, you should be able to figure out his age – or at least have the sense to settle for an approximation. When they meet, the man takes charge and makes every effort to give the woman the best sex of her life. I think there are some tenuous assumptions here – such as the notion that there really are porn movie theaters that have a wholesome ambience that will promote romance and that it really is sensible for a woman to place herself wholly at the mercy of a man she has known only through the Internet. However, if you accept these assumptions, the story is pretty good. Ratings for "The Girl Who Came Out of the Blue" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 9.5 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 9 "Replacement" by Nick (nick@cassandra.demon.co.uk). As I was reading this story, I became conceited and muttered to myself, "I could have recognized this as Sven's style, even if it didn't have his name at the top of the story." So then I looked at the top of the story and discovered it was written by Nick, not Sven. Oh, well; they live in the same island near the edge of the Atlantic anyway. This is a poignant, romantic story about two people whose house burned down. The insurance money has enabled them to rebuild, and they have come to examine and initiate the house. There's a lot of interesting stuff in this story; but I'd ruin it if I tried to tell you most of it. There's also a surprise twist at the end. Ratings for "Replacement" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 10 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 9.5 "Who Said That?" by Sidney Durham (sidney_durham@my-Deja.com). This story is a little hard to describe. Mostly it's about the narrator and his cock having a conversation with the narrator's wife, while she's trying to avoid having sex with either of them. It's really pretty funny. Ratings for "Who Said That?" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 10 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 10 "Can't, Won't" by Spline Duck (splineduck@my-Deja.com). The story begins with the narrator engaged in a passionate pickup at the local small-town pub. Once the victim is hot to trot, she informs him that he has to fuck her roommate; but she promises to make it interesting and worthwhile for him. The basic idea is that our narrator has been sort of hyperactive on the sexual scene and needs to withdraw and get some space for herself. Her roommate, on the other hand, is a somewhat overweight lady, who is horny as hell but can't get laid. So they work out the strategy by which the narrator picks 'em up and the roommie beds 'em. This isn't a story as much as an anecdote or clever little joke. It's about a young lady who went down in history as the first student who went down in history because she went down in history. Go figure. Or read the story for details. This is a very short story about a first-time experience that took place a long time ago. The narrator is recalling it while listening to the same piece of music. It's a very short but very nice story. Ratings for "Bellavia" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 9 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 9 "Dancing in the Dark" by Sven the Elder (sven@brass-neck.demon.co.uk). The man and his wife take a weekend getaway by automobile. The place they stop at specializes in dancing, but they make music of their own . The story does an excellent job of focusing on the woman's "new decisiveness" and the man's reaction to her assertiveness and willingness to depart from previous custom. This is a real cliffhanger – literally, almost. Allen is out on his platform, washing windows on the high rise building. He leans over a bit to get a better view of the beautiful Oriental woman masturbating on the sofa, and he comes on his platform – er, I mean he almost comes off his platform – that is, he is left hanging there about five miles off the ground. His life is hanging in the balance – literally. The woman's name is Nancy Lee, who seems to be a refugee from an Ann Douglas adventure, except that the window washer with whom she eventually makes love is neither a teenage girl nor a sexy grandmother. After he is rescued, Allen is in shock. If this were literally true, Nancy should dial 911 and have the paramedics come to take care of him. Shock is serious business. I know this both from a nun back in high school and from a myopic guest on the Gerry Springer Show. However, I think the author was using the term loosely, because Nancy decides to cum for Allen herself, and he seems to be just fine. This is an excellent story with a happy ending and a moral to it. It's just a description of how the author wrote his story for the Gala Grand Opening of a.s.s.m. It's just a wonderfully creative and well written story. Riter (ezriter@pdq.net). http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN= If I may use the technical terms of American jurisprudence, Cathy has messed with the Lone Ranger once too often. To put it differently, she has tugged on Superman's cape when she shouldn't have. In other words, she has used her sexual wiles in attempt to manipulate and cheat James Thompson. Mr. T doesn't just get angry, he gets even. In his unwavering quest for justice, Mr. Thompson hires a major conglomerate specializing in sex slavery to kidnap Cathy and her sister and turn them into sex slaves. Cathy's sister gets off easy – being turned into a mindless twit (i.e., "a beautiful virgin sex slave") who becomes happily married trophy wife of her benign master. Cathy, on the other hand, gets trapped inside the body of Candy – never mind, you'll have to read the story to understand all the intricacies. Sex slavery stories usually come across to me as really stupid, because they require the reader to take seriously so many assumptions that can't possibly be true. However, I really liked this one. I found the activities described in this one to be so outlandish that the story became good clean fun. Ratings for "Cathy's Sentence" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 10 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 10 "Sharing Kim" by E. Z. Riter (ezriter@hotmail.com). Kim in Jason pledge their love and fidelity to each other and get married. But before the wedding, Jason specifies that fidelity has a unique definition in his life. It means that he will fuck no one except Kim and the women who belong to his best friend Dave. And Dave has to be allowed to fuck Kim. Kim agrees to let Jason have sex with Dave's women, but she balks at letting Dave have her. She wants to be Jason's woman, and his alone. The main tension in the story is whether Kim will give in and let Dave fuck her, how it will happen, and what the reactions of Jason and Kim will be. The idea initially sounded silly to me, but the author built a good case. The dialogue makes the complex relationship seem believable. I found the story to be sexy; and by the end I could almost see Kim's point of view – almost. I have thought about this story more than I do about most. I figure I owe that to an author who has busted his ass to write a 42-page story that kept my attention and interest all the way. The question I asked myself was what would I do if the man I loved made this demand of me. After a whole lot of thought, I decided I'd tell him to go fuck himself, and I'd look for a better man. I couldn't love a man who showed me this lack of respect. I hasten to add that I would also walk away from a religion that required an act of faith like this – it would seem to be a degradation of my personality. I think the decision this woman is forced to make is essentially the same thing – a mind fuck that I think would deny my basic human dignity. I suppose that might just be my personal hangup; but maybe it's also a desirable aspect of the story – an ambivalence that just has to be there in order to make the story good. I still liked the story a lot. The fire alarm sounds in the middle of the night, and the narrator has to vacate the old hotel, in the company of all the elderly clientele. Guest Review by BillyG (hayden@mindless.com). http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=532466671 A problem I've experienced with many historical stories doesn't surface with a "Night of Privilege." Too often the so-called historical tales set the story in a period with no further embellishment, relying on the reader's image of the era to provide the story's texture. The author Kellis employs considerable skill in setting his own ambiance. The time is uncertain -- likely Middle Ages -- and the place we presume to be feudal Europe. It's the custom then that the baron has a "night of privilege" where he intimately samples the charms of a bride-to-be. Because there's so much riding on the success of this union, and, as it turns out, the virginity of the would-be bride, the mother quizzes her daughter on her sexual status. Surprise. She's not a virgin. But this is a "fixable" problem. Kellis paints a rich and detailed series of images in this story, but there's more than just appearance to this account. The complexity ratchets up in a surprising fashion and a series of little disclosures and insights lead the reader to unanticipated ending. It's a lush and rich adventure more than a sexually provocative tale. I enjoyed it immensely. Review by Nick: e-mail nick@cassandra.demon.co.uk http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=526508113 Here we have a Spoonbender story in which nobody gets raped and, indeed, the heroine actually keeps her chastity intact - well almost. I do hope I haven't given too much away and that I haven't put off TS fans who 'like that sort of thing'. I searched Uther's story codes for 'bodice-ripper' in order to find out what I was in for, but failed to find it. I therefore had to read blind, uncertain as to whether my delicate sensibilities would be offended - quite likely since I have steered clear of Barbara Cartland for precisely this reason. In my view 'bodice rippers' are a carbuncle on the face of writing and should be put up against the wall and shot along with peadophilia, rape and snuff. Anyway, down to business. I read this on the train and it certainly sped up the journey time. If anyone has ever read George MacDonald Fraser's 'Flashman' books, this reminded me of his style. OK, it may be a tenuous link. It was just that I felt the same juices flowing as I did when I read his stuff. The heroine, Molly, undergoes many trials and tribulations at the hands of various 'men in her life' before she meets Mr. Right. The ending is happy, and so, in this kind of story, it should be. Of course there are unpleasant historical echoes, and one is left with the uncomfortable feeling that for most women in her position the ending would not have been remotely happy. The PC in me obliges me to say that; but hell, this is fiction. Read and enjoy! Points for 'Molly' are: Athena (Technical) 9.5 (there were one or two awkward points, but don't let that worry you) Aphrodite (Plot/Character) 10 Appeal to Nick 9.5 (ref. comments re Barbara Cartland) "One Good Turn..." by Omega13 (omega13@my-deja.com). It's well told, the sex is super-charged, and there's plenty of it. The author is a business consultant, winding up an assignment. An employee, grateful for a positive report, wants to thank him and contrives to entice two office bimbettes, Trish and Melissa, by leading them to believe there's something to be had by sleeping with the author. The ladies arrange a 'farewell' party that's essentially a mιnage-a-trois. Much sex is had by all. Now there's an element of violence (though not sadism) here, some bondage and shackling and the sex itself is pretty raw and unfeeling. The responses are entirely physical, there's no emotional contrivance. The story is sustained by being utterly raw. The writing's good, the coding is accurate, but I wish it had been better proofed. ATHENA (Technical quality) : 9 VENUS (Plot & Character) : 8 MARY : (Appeal to Reviewer) : 9 "Kelly and Her Little Sister" by Typoman (Wrenchman@earthlink.net) Guest Review by BillyG (hayden@mindless.com) http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=512471783 It's been said that you have one chance to make a good first impression. That's true with the written word. No matter the content, the appearance, the formatting of a story is either inviting or off-putting. For example, the stories without paragraphs are deadly. They're often far too much work to be inviting. Almost as bad are the formatting styles that allow for no paragraph indentation or spaces between. Similarly, sloppy use of quotes serve to slow down the flow of dialog, for we spend too much time trying to figure who is saying what. "Kelly and Her Little Sister" suffers from these formatting problems. Had I not agreed to review the story, I'd have put it aside unread near the outset. One final complaint before getting into the story: There are a good number of punctuation mistakes -- those of oversight more than ignorance. It wouldn't have taken much effort to grammatically clean up the story. At a superficial level, the story is one of dominance and submission as played out by an older man and a younger woman. Thrown into this stew is the younger woman's fourteen-year-old sister. The D&S plot line staggers a bit initially, for it's not clear just who's the top and who's the bottom. The ambivalence of the D&S roles fades in contrast to the mixed message about the morality of involving the little sister. Pro forma stances are espoused and promptly forgotten as the teenaged girl is pulled into the menage a trios. The characters remain too blurred for any identifiable definition. The sex, detailed as it is presented, fails to excite largely because it remains formulaic and out of focus in light of the contradictory positions of morality. Trying to be too many things, it fails at being any one thing. Guest review by Dave Myers. http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=521233983 There's a famous Zen Koan that asks, "Does a dog have Bhuddha nature?" The answer is basically no. And it's "No" here too. At its core, this is not very much of a sex story. It can hardly be called "sexy" either. This has nothing to do with the main theme, which is punishment and domination. Believe it or not, this is a story about dog-fucking. No, that doesn't mean beastiality. And it's not furry sex. It's a dog-on-dog encounter that the author sought to capture in this short, science-fiction edged story. The idea is inventive enough. The dom story embedded in all this isn't too bad, but I have to say it wasn't that great either. It didn't help me get over the subject matter, which just wasn't enticing. I'm sure it *is* possibly to write a story with this theme that is a lot of fun, and sexy. I've seen furry stuff that I really did like a lot. This time, it falls very flat. -- If you enjoyed this work, take a moment to email the author. Your comments are their only payment.
