Sorry, it has taken me so long to accede to these requests. But its worth the wait ! (I think :) The story continues...enjoy ! Command Information Centre, CGN 40: USS Mississippi, Carrier Battle Group, Seventh Fleet, East China Station, East China Sea, 30°N:125°30’E, Day +1, 0h56. "Sir, we have a bogie heading out on a course of 45° east north east from the Chinese coast around Shanghai", the voice came through on the speaker where the Group Air Warfare Officer sat thumbing through a month old copy of Time magazine. Moving his lanky frame with a limping gait, he drew himself up to the wide console where the radar officer sat. Peering through his bushy eyebrows he noted a "V" shape heading in that particular direction. Other "V"’s crowded this scope, but they were commercial airliners travelling the busy South East Asian skies. He noted the information tag which the air warfare computer had pinned to the "V" in question. It had been tagged as a "Fitter-C" in NATO parlance: a Sukhoi Su 17. "Shit, son, whats it doing so far out at sea ?", he grunted in astonishment, his heavy jowls chewing upon what remained of a cigar, which was soon tossed to one side. "Its definitely Chinese, sir", the radar officer advised, not taking his eye off the glowing yellow screen of his sweeping radar scope. "Where did it come from ? Shanghai ?", the senior officer asked, his Texan drawl betraying his origins. "No sir, we’ve been tracking air traffic on that coast. This bogie came from the south west and then turned out to sea. She only lit her afterburners after she had left Chinese territorial airspace. Looked like a normal air patrol, until that happened, though", he added. "Son, get me AWAC’s logs for that aircraft’s activities. I want to know where it came from and I want to know where its going", the Group Air Warfare Officer barked. "Well, sir, on her present heading she looks like she’s heading for Japan." Day +1, East China Sea, 37 000 feet, 30°20’N:125°E, 1h23 Ellie May had fired her afterburners soon after leaving Chinese territorial airspace. At that point she was too far ahead to be caught by any chinese migs that chose to give chase. High in the inky blue sky, the starry night shone with a gleaming radiance, and she was at peace with the world. Her aircraft’s sensors had warned her that she was being tracked by what seemed to be US military radar. She tried to throw them off her trail by cutting in behind commercial airliners to blend her radar signature with theirs. It seemed as though her body had decided that valour was the better part of discretion and that it was worth the risk, to make the necessary speed. {The necessary speed to where, though ?} she asked herself, puzzled. She knew she was heading in a north easterly direction. Geography had never been her strong point at school, and she surmised that they were heading towards the Pacific ocean, perhaps towards America. Command Information Centre, CGN 40: USS Mississippi, Carrier Battle Group, Seventh Fleet, East China Station, East China Sea, 30°20’N:125°30’E, Day +1, 1h56. "Sir, we have just received the full tracking log of the bogie 1. I will flash it up on your screen." The radar officer reported. "Son, this log shows it came from the main air base in Canton, and headed up to Shanghai, where it turned north east across the coast. What the hell is this guy doing ?", the senior officer muttered, his spatulate thumb hammering on his intercom button. "Thats not all of it sir", the junior officer replied as soon as his senior had lifted his thumb off the transmission switch, "there has been no flight activity reported at that particular airbase for the last twelve hours, with the sole exception of that bogie taking off. In fact, our KH-11 satellite photos indicate that the airforce part of that base has been deserted and cordoned off." "What in tarnation is going on ?", the senior officer grunted, and lit another reefer. "Could it be a defector, sir ?" The Texan shrugged his shoulders. "Quite possible son, or an attack. But there are no indications as to why the chinese commoonists would want to attack our Japanese friends, no indications at all. I suppose we better warn the nips that this gook is heading their way and let them deal with it." The Intelligence Officer butted in here, shrugging his shoulders: "There’s been no indication of any kind of hostility at all, but it could be armed. At least its not heading towards Taiwan. There they would blow it out of the sky without a second thought." "yes sir." Ignoring the radar officer, the Group Air Warfare Officer fixed his intelligence counterpart with a beady eye. "Yeh, well, the nips could still decide to blow the silly little git out of the sky", he answered with a snort. Day +1, East China Sea, 2 000 feet, 30°20’N:130°E, 100 km south of Kagoshima, Kyushu Island, Japan, 2h17 Ellie May had managed to weave past the tracking sweeps of the search radars of the Japanese destroyers below. She was not wearing a radio headset so she could not hear the warnings issued to her in Chinese and English. Peering down she could see the lights of one or two islands and what appeared to be some ships, below. {Where can I be ?} her brow wrinkling in curiosity. The warbling grew within her cockpit as the Japanese missile radars found her and "painted" the Su 17. In reply, the aircraft dropped to 200 feet above sea level, skimming the waves, and the warbling died down. Somehow her body could accomplish this superb flying with the greatest of ease. Now, the Japanese missile radars had great difficulty locking onto her as the ground clutter of ocean waves messed with the radar signature. In the distance a glow appeared on the horizon. <= Objective: Kagoshima - Kyushu Island, Japan, Earth=> {I wonder what city that is ?} Her aircraft leapt towards the light. The warbling increased. A screeching sound filled the cabin. Ellie May had no idea that it was the SAM alarm indicating that a missile was streaking on its way towards her. Pulling into the air in a series of stomach churning hairpin loops, the aircraft discharged decoys under her body’s tactical guidance. A series of explosions rocked the aircraft as four missiles exploded harmlessly behind her. Twenty kilometres from the burning glow of Kagoshima’s city lights, her Sukhoi leapt into the air and hung there at 25 000 feet. That was where the sidewinder missile from the Japanese F16 Fighting Falcon found it. Ellie May felt herself engulfed in a fireball of flame as her aircraft vapourised around her. In the nanosecond before the missile hit, her body was covered in a tight black thin rubbery substance which suddenly materialised onto her skin. This substance felt like a second skin, so snugly did it fit itself to her body. It felt like a strange mixture of rubber, latex and silk. It covered her entire body from head to foot. Her eyes were covered, but she could "see" every millimetre of her surrounding through sensors imbedded throughout the entire surface of this second skin. She felt herself falling. She could see a sharply clear segmented vision of the sky around her and the sea below. She could sense the flight of F16’s hundreds of kilometres away, the islands in the distance and the missile batteries and destroyers in a 200 kilometres radius. She could "see" the young couple making out on the beach on Kyushu island, oblivious to these events, and the lone heron winging its way south. Her sensors detected a pod of blue whales 50 kilometres away and 200 feet below the sea surface. Her amazement at this godlike view of the world ended as the cold sharp shock of the sea hit her. The waves closed in over her head. Chapter 3; Run Silent, Run Deep; Day +1, East China Sea, -20 metres, 18 kilometres south west of Kagoshima, Kyushu Island, Japan, 2h35 Her body sank like a stone to 60 metres, her arms flailing in desperation. Then her arms moved to her sides, as her legs came together. She could feel herself solidifying into a cylindrical shape, as her head was jutted forward and her mouth opened. The ocean water gushed in and moved in a solid line down the centre of her body to be emitted out of the duct that had opened up where her feet were sealed together. Inside her the countless cells which made up her new form vibrated the water down her centreline providing the propulsion necessary to speed her through the water at an unbelievable 30 knots. This form of propulsion was so silent that the Japanese attack submarines cruising 1200 metres below, could not pick up her "signature" on their sonar scanners. She shot through the water like a sleek latex torpedo. Ellie May saw the bottom of the ocean laid out before her in glorious 3 dimensional relief. It was as if she was travelling in a form of virtual reality. Her scanners which used the entire surface of her body as a search radar and scanner array, tracked every form for thousands of kilometres. The speed she was travelling at caused this 3 dimensional image to keep scrolling past her minds-eye in a flash. {Hmmm…this is how a cruise missile must feel.} Soon the topographical outline of the continental shelf of Japan appeared. She felt her body shoot upwards in steep ascent. Before Ellie May knew it, she was in the shallows, the roar of the waves pounding in her "ears". She could see the clouds of beach sand murky the water ahead of her and the foam of the surface of the sea. In a flash her body had beached itself in the soft wet sand. Suddenly her arms and legs were "free" as she sprawled in the soaking sand. Day +1, Kagoshima, Kyushu Island, Japan, 03h16 She lay still for a moment, listening to the roar of the surf. Her thermal scanners detected two bodies huddling further up the beach and to her left. In a flash, her second skin had flowed down her body and disappeared inside her. {Considering whats happened, its amazing that I don’t even feel tired, never mind that I am in one piece !} she remarked to herself ruefully. She stood up and looked around. She could see the waves breaking on the shoreline, their phosphorent crests gleaming in the moonlight. Except for the human couple and the numerous sea creatures below the sand and scuttling around in the surf, the beach was deserted. {Shit ! I’m butt nekkid ! I'll have to find clothes and quickly ! I wonder where I am ?} These thoughts jumbled through her mind. Realising she was naked, she thought twice about asking the couple on the beach about where exactly she was. She could see the lights of a highway on the horizon, and scrambled up the beach towards it, her sand covered limbs flashing over the beach. She reached a cold water shower at the foot of a long flight of stairs leading to the highway. Yanking the chain she stood under the cold water shower in the early hours of a Japanese morning, and washed the sand and sea off her svelte and statuesque body, and out of her hair. Curiously, she did not feel cold at all. Crossing the highway quickly, she disappeared into the city of Kagoshima, terrified that someone would spot her. Just before dawn, she found herself by an old warehouse in an industrial part of the city. Keeping to the shadows, she had avoided detection, as very few people were up and around at that time. She entered through an open window, and found herself on what looked like a stage. Rummaging frantically through the drawers and cupboards in the dressing room, she found what looked like a black bodysuit. This was the only clothing she could find. {Well, its better than nothing, but it sure looks skimpy !} She looked at it curiously. It seemed to have large sections missing. She put it on, and walked to the front of the mirror. To her horror, the gaps left her entire butt area and crotch exposed, as well as her nipples and areolae. But it seemed to cover her breasts. The bodysuit was tight and form fitting. As it was made out of lacy material, it did not hide the naked aspect of her body, but seemed to enhance her nudity even more. Her hands shot to her mouth in shock as she stared at her reflection in the long mirror attached to the wall. {OHmiGod !} she thought, miserably, {I cannot go out like this !} In despair she ransacked the little theatre, but was unable to find any garments of use. The only item she discovered were a set of large plastic beads on a string, left to gather dust in one corner. {Obviously forgotten by their owner !} She thought it was necklace, but it must have gotten wet, because the dust had congealed and clung like fine clay to its surface. Curiously there was no clasp to connect this "necklace" together. {Well, the clasp must have gotten lost. As it is now, it cannot be hung round one's neck.} Shrugging her shoulders she sequestered herself in one of the changerooms to wait for nightfall again. Through the louvered windows, she could see the pale dawn creep over the city, as she sat on the floor, her arms hugging her knees to her bountiful chest. Her beautiful face rested on these finely made limbs, as she fingered the beaded "necklace" absentmindedly. end of part 7 -- +----------------' Story submission `-+-' Moderator contact `--------------+ | | | | Archive site +----------------------+--------------------+ Newsgroup FAQ | ----
