Nyym Copyright (C) 1998 [part 1 of 3] The young, perky, long-haired blonde crossed the large office, her stiff posture and wide eyes hinted at her nervousness. She was wearing the tight green dress that hugged her hourglass figure, thinking it never hurt to look a little sexy. Little did she know that she would be interviewed by a woman. "Hi," she said, holding out her hand, "I'm Angela Bennis." A sultry 33-year-old brunette -- dressed in a conservative gray pantsuit -- took the offered hand and shook it firmly. "Pleased to meet you, Angela. My name is Katherine Card. Please, have a seat." She gestured to the chair in front of her desk. "Thank you," Angela said, sweeping her skirt under her as she sat down. The businesswoman watched with interest as the young lady crossed her long legs, clad in dark nylon. Kathy stepped back behind her huge L-shaped desk, eased into her big leather chair, and rolled it forward. She picked up the resume in front of her and pretended to scrutinize it. Actually, she already had it memorized, but it was kind of fun let the applicants sweat a little. "Very impressive," Kathy said, tapping the resume with her knuckle. "Thank you," Angela said, holding her hands tightly together in her lap so they wouldn't fidget. "Yes, indeed," Kathy continued, as if Angela hadn't spoken. She had made her decision as soon as Angela walked in the room, she just didn't want to admit it to herself. Because it was expected, Kathy peppered Angela with all the typical questions that came with applying for a secretarial position. How fast can you type? Do you take dictation? Do you know how to use a computer? She was careful to just stick to the basics, because Kathy really didn't want to discover any flaws. Actually, Angela was very qualified. She was bright and ambitious, and she had all of the appropriate education and training. The only obvious thing she lacked was experience. Most of the other applicants had been working as secretaries for at least a decade. Kathy thought, She sighed. Was she really going to hire this girl based on her looks? ... Yes, apparently she was. Kathy leaned her elbows on the desk, and steepled her hands. "Well, guess what?" "What?" Angela asked with a swallow. "You're hired." Angela blinked, and then broke out in a huge smile. "Really?" "Yes, you start Monday." "Thank you!" Angela beamed. Kathy nodded. "You're welcome." The two of them spent a few more minutes ironing out the details, such as salary (which was very generous), benefits (better than expected), and vacation (two weeks paid). Angela grew happier by the moment. "Now," Kathy said, "one last thing. Dress code." Angela looked down at her dress. She had been worried it might be a little TOO sexy. Especially when it turned out she'd be working for a woman. Actually, now that she thought about it, it was kind of sexist of her to automatically assume all businesspeople were men. "Don't get me wrong, what you have on now is perfect," Kathy said. "If that's what you like to wear, it's fine. Personally, I choose comfort over style, especially when it comes to shoes. I decided early on to never wear high heels. Couldn't find any reason why a woman should purposefully wear something uncomfortable." Angela looked down at her foot, and wiggled it. She typically wore a pair of simple, high-heeled pumps (green today, to match her dress), because she liked the way she looked in them. She knew they flattered her legs and butt, but she had to admit they were pretty uncomfortable. Her dogs were always barking by the end of the day. She often wondered if having aching feet was worth lifting her ass up a couple inches. she thought. Angela nodded. "Sounds good to me." "Good," Kathy said, standing. Angela stood as well. "Yes. See you at nine o'clock sharp Monday morning, uh ... Ms. Card." Kathy opened the office door and led Angela through. "That's MISS Card, actually. And while my clients and coworkers seem to like to calling me K.C., my friends call me Kathy. I'd appreciate if you called me Kathy." Angela smiled. She was really going to enjoy working for a woman. "What about Katherine?" Kathy shook her head in distaste. "Only my mother calls me Katherine." * * * Angela proved to be very good at her job. What she lacked in experience she more than made up for in ambition and determination. Her sharp intellect accentuated her beauty all the more. It made Kathy all the more determined to seduce her. For weeks Kathy dropped several hints about her sexual orientation. She all but flat-out said: "I am a lesbian."Angela was smart enough that she should have picked up on it, but if she figured it out she didn't let on about it. It was a little frustrating for Kathy. She desperately wanted to seduce her secretary, but she also wanted Angela to be a very willing participant. She could only imagine what would happen if it got out that a young, beautiful secretary was suing her older, female, equally beautiful boss for sexual harassment. Since dropping hints didn't seem to be working, Kathy changed tactics. She began to inquire about Angela's sex life. Trying not to be too obvious about it, of course. "So, how was your weekend?" Kathy asked one Monday morning. "Oh," Angela shrugged, "same old, same old." "That exciting, huh?" Angela laughed. "Afraid so." "Come on, Angela! You're too young to mope around the house. Have some fun. You should take your boyfriend on a quick, romantic getaway to Vegas over the weekend." Angela scoffed. "WHAT boyfriend?" Kathy looked surprised. "What do you mean 'what boyfriend'? You're young, beautiful, and gainfully employed. Guys should be falling at your feet." "Yeah, well, I've always been too busy to have much of a social life. I've always been either too busy at school, or work, or both. My days are always too full." To Kathy it sounded like a pretty lame excuse. Angela didn't go to school anymore, she worked a typical nine-to-five day, and didn't ever have to take work home with her. She had plenty of time in the evenings to strike up a social life. Millions of people did it, including Kathy. Kathy thought, It was wishful thinking, she knew, but was also very encouraging. * * * It took a while, but Kathy gradually learned a few details on Angela's love life. There was no shortage of guys asking her out, as beautiful as she was. But not once did Angela ever mention going on a date. She might occasionally spend a wild evening with her single girlfriends, but more often that not she would opt instead for a quiet evening at home. There had been only a few serious boyfriends over the years, all of them before she turned twenty, but Kathy was unable to get a clear picture of how serious these relationships might have been. Kathy slowly began to realize there was a good chance that her beautiful, sexy, 23-year- old secretary was still a virgin. It was a little hard to believe, in this day and age, but it was looking more and more likely. Personally, Kathy had lost her virginity at sixteen to her 18-year-old boyfriend. And for years she was truly puzzled why so many people made such a big deal out of sex. Sure, it was fun, and occasionally exciting, but nothing to get all gaga over. Then, just after her nineteenth birthday, she made love to a woman for the first time. It was a long, passionate, orgasm-filled night. The next morning she swore off men forever. Now, at thirty-three, Kathy had a pretty active sex life. Women -- especially those her own age -- were very drawn to her. After all, she was attractive, rich, and very good in bed. Quite a catch for a thirty-something lesbian looking to settle down. But Kathy wasn't ready to settle down. She was still young and adventurous. And to prove this she felt compelled to occasionally seduce women a good decade younger than she was. Especially women who had never experimented with lesbianism before. The challenge was half the fun. (And if Angela turned out to be a full-fledged virgin, so much the better.) * * * After months of not getting anywhere with Angela, Kathy decided it was time to be more bold about her sexual orientation. Get it out in the open, let Angela stew on it a while, maybe get her to talk about it. With any luck Angela would show some interest. But if not, Kathy was ready to give up and turn her attention to someone else. The only problem was Kathy wasn't sure how to get it out in the open. She didn't want to just blurt out: "Hey, Angela, I'm a lesbian!" That would definitely make Angela uncomfortable. It had to be more subtle, not too obvious. The perfect opportunity arose when one of Kathy's former lovers showed up at the office. Leslie was a beautiful, statuesque woman in her late thirties, her skin the color of milk chocolate, and her eyes a deep, penetrating hazel. She and Kathy had been an item for several months a few years ago, and after breaking up they had remained friends. It was a delicious coincidence that Leslie worked for an advertising company that was making commercials for a product Kathy was working on. Leslie arrived at Kathy's office one Thursday afternoon to discuss some preliminaries on the project. After Angela buzzed her, Kathy quickly emerged from her office to greet her former lover. With her first glimpse of Leslie, her breath caught in her throat. she thought. "So good to see you," Kathy gushed. "Yes, it's been too long," Leslie sobbed. The two of them embraced tightly. It had been quite a while since their last get-together, but this was obviously more than just a long-time-no-see hug. They held each other a long time, their bodies pressing together in several places. Angela observed this from her desk, wondering why she didn't have any friends that close. The two businesswomen disappeared into Kathy's office for almost an hour. When they reemerged, they were laughing and joking like they were the best of friends. They hugged each other good-bye, and promised to meet again for lunch in the not-too- distant future. "So," Angela said after Leslie was gone, "she's an old friend of yours, huh?" Kathy turned to her. "Well, something like that ... But to be honest, it was much more. We were lovers." Angela was stunned. She tried to hide it, and recovered rather quickly, but for a few seconds her shock had been blatant. Kathy mentally sighed. Angela cleared her throat. "Uh ... lovers?" she asked. "Yes," Kathy said soberly. "I'm sorry, didn't you know I was a lesbian?" "No, I ..." Angela shook her head slowly. "Oh. Well, I don't keep it a secret," Kathy stepped closer to Angela, and sat on the edge of her desk. "But at the same time I guess I don't really advertise it either. I am sorry. I guess I just assumed you had picked up on it by now. I guess office gossip isn't what it used to be." She winced. She wasn't being very truthful, but then she hadn't expected Angela to be so surprised. "No," Angela said, "I'm the one who should be sorry. I was raised in a very conservative family, and I guess I'm a little naive about some things." "Oh, that's okay," Kathy said soothingly. She wanted to say something else, but wondered if it was a good idea. She quickly decided that yes, there was no time like the present. "No offense, Angela, but I was beginning to think maybe YOU were a lesbian." Angela looked shocked again, and this time she didn't even try to hide it. Her jaw dropped. "Me? A lesbian? Really? ... Why?" Kathy shrugged. "Oh, it was very presumptuous of me, I admit. But the way you never seem to go on dates. The way you cringe when guys try to flirt with you. And how much more comfortable you are around women ... Sorry if I was jumping to conclusions. Maybe I was just hoping ... deep down ... you'd ..." she trailed off, seeing Angela was lost in thought. Angela's look of shock had been replaced by a look of concern. "You know," she said after a long moment of silence, "it's true. I've never been very fond of men. I USED to date a lot, a few years ago. But no matter how long I'd been with a guy, I never felt very comfortable with him. I always preferred going out with my girlfriends, or just being alone." She sighed deeply, and continued. "So lately I've been avoiding men altogether. I just don't want to deal with it. It's not worth it. Despite the dread I feel when visiting my parents, because all they ever want to do is talk about my love life. Or lack there of, I guess." She laughed in frustration. "It never occurred to me that I might be uncomfortable around men because ... I ..." She suddenly felt dizzy, and slumped heavily in her chair. Kathy had been listening intently, fascinated by every word. It looked like there had been something huge building up inside Angela for a long time, and she obviously needed someone to talk to. Or maybe just a shoulder to cry on. Not exactly what Kathy had in mind, but it was better than nothing. Much better. Just then a middle-aged man walked into the foyer (Kathy recognized him as one of her clients), saw the women's intimate conversation, and started glancing around uncomfortably. Kathy sighed. She didn't want to abandon Angela, but at the same time she couldn't neglect her job. "Be with you in a moment, Mr. McClure," she told the man. He looked relieved. "Okay." He sat at one end of the plush sofa and buried his nose in a magazine. Angela was still slumped in her chair, a hand over her eyes. "Maybe you should take the rest of the day off," Kathy whispered. "You don't look so good." Angela nodded. "Maybe I should." Without another word she gathered up a few things, and left the room. Kathy was a little worried she had frightened her off for good. she thought, "Okay, Mr. McClure, step into my office please."
